Northwest Cosmetic Labs Sponsors Employees in Local Soccer League
Idaho Falls, Idaho – October 28, 2013
For the past three years, Northwest Cosmetic Labs has sponsored employees in the YMCA Latin soccer league. The team, Northwest United, placed second out of the 23 teams in the league this year.
Mauricio Noriega, a machine operator at NCL, acts as the team’s coach and goalie during the five-month season from April to August. The team consists of five full-time employees, with the remaining team members being family and temporary workers. Noriega says he expects even more employees to participate next year.
The donation from NCL helps to cover the cost of the team’s jerseys, referee fees, and the registration fees.
Juan Noriega, brother to Mauricio Noriega, and a defender on the team, said, “We were very grateful for the sponsorship from Northwest Cosmetic Labs. Many people that work here and play on the team are also students and do not have enough money to play. But with the help of Northwest, we are able to have more youth on the team.” Juan Noriega is coming up on his third year as a warehouse worker at NCL.
Northwest United made it to the championship game and lost three to two, leaving them in 2nd place in the league. Matt Bryant, CEO of NCL, attended some of the games with his family to cheer on the team.
Bryant said, “The games have such a family feel. We try to attend as many games as we can.” Bryant continued to tell of all the family members of the team that came out to support.
“They are a really good team. And, it is a very high level of competition,” Bryant remarks on the skills of the team. “The way they work together, it is as if they have played together for years.”
Noriega plans to continue leading the team in the years to come, and is looking forward to taking another shot at the championship next season.
